How Garage Door Openers Work

We all know that when we flip a switch or use a remote garage door opener we can open and close the garage door with just one flip or click. However, what goes on behind this action.

Well, it is a bit technical. There are various parts included in this magical happening that allows us to open and close the garage door easily.

The parts included in your garage door opener include:
  • the drive mechanism
  • the springs
  • the tracks
  • the brackets
Each one of these parts must work together for the garage door to open or close smoothly. Once you flip the switch or the clicker, a signal is sent to the drive mechanism, which will then begin the process of opening or closing your garage door. The springs swing into action tightening up to open the door and then loosing to close the door.

Springs are located:
  • Both sides of the garage door
  • Down the center of your garage’s ceiling on a track
Brackets are what hold everything in place.
